Sigma Omega Nu supports the
Supporting Families of Children With Cancer...
A unique feature of Sigma Omega Nu is that each chapter selects a philanthropy that allows them to help their unique communities.
In 2014, the Gamma Chapter decided to peruse a philanthropic partnership with Isla Vista Youth Projects Inc., a non profit organization that provides families and children who attend IV elementary with resources such as after school tutoring and child care programs.
In 2017, Gamma Chapter decided to support Girls Inc , an organization "inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, & bold." Along with our own values, Girls Inc encouraged women to explore the world around them, use their voices, and "strive to be responsible, confident, and independent young women."
This year we changed our philanthropy with the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. TBCF supports families living in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties that have a child with cancer by providing financial, educational, and emotional support. They "support the entire family when their child has cancer. The program allow parents to focus on what matters most, their child’s well-being, during one of the most difficult times of their child’s young life."
